So after the FOURTH telemarketing call in 15 minutes I’ve decided to post a few notes for telemarketers thinking of calling ANY of my numbers.

First - ALL of my numbers are registered on the National Do Not Call List.  That means I DON’T WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! I don’t care what you’re selling, I don’t care how valuable your service is.  I’m on the Do Not Call List which means leave me alone!  Even if you’re a charity, I already have my list of charities that I support - none of them call me EVER.  If they did make the mistake of calling me, I’d probably stop supporting them.

Second - Besides being on the Do Not Call List, I don’t give out my cell phone number unless I have to.  I most definitely don’t want to hear from telemarketers on it, especially if I’m traveling.  I’m pointing this finger right at the subscription department of the San Francisco Chronicle.  I don’t know how you people got my cell phone number, but I don’t want to hear from you especially when I’m traveling which is when you seem to call me.  I have no intention of subscribing to your paper especially when you call me while I’m sitting on a bus in Seattle WA or while driving outside of Richnond VA.

Third - I don’t know you, and you don’t know me.  This means that you DO NOT have the right to call me by my first name or even by a nickname.  Your doing so won’t put me at ease, won’t make me think you’re my pal, and won’t make it any easier to get money from me.

Fourth - I don’t want to see your timeshare community, vacation club, holiday plan whatever.  There was a time when I thought that the loss of 3 hours of my life (lets face it, it’s never just a “90 minute presentation”) was worth the crap you were giving away.  I’ve grown up, and I’ve learned that my time is worth more than the crap your offering, let alone the fact that I no longer have any desire to sit through your high pressure presentation.

Fifth - You can claim otherwise, but calling me that I’ve won a “prize” which can only be claimed by allowing a sales person to come to my home to make a presentation is still an unwanted telemarketing call.  Just because YOUR not pitching me something personally doesn’t get you off the hook.  You’re just trying to find a way to weasel some salesguy in front of me…  Sorry, not buying it…
